Modified 6 v 6 Rules for Soccer (May be used for 7 v7 and 8 v8) 4/12/04

Law I

Field Dimensions shall be 40 yards by 60 yards with a halfway line And a center circle with an eight-yd radius. Goals shall be 18 ft by 6 ft Goal area shall be 6 x 19 yards, penalty area 14 x 35 yards. Penalty spot is 9 yds from goal.

Law II

Ball U-10 and U-12 = size 4/ U-13 and up = size 5

Law III

Number of Players Format is 6 v 6 with a goalkeeper. (Max 10 rostered players/team). Each ready, willing and able player must play at least 50% of each game. Need 4/team to start. Substitutions may be made with the permission of the referee during stoppage of play for: Injury - either team Goal kick - either team After a goal - either team Throw-ins - either team Players must enter and leave the field at the halfway line. Players to be substituted should be at halfway line prior to the ball leaving the field.

Law IV

Equipment Shin guards required. Nothing dangerous to any player (jewelry).

Law V

Referee One referee shall be allocated to every match.

Law VII

Duration of Game shall be two 20-minute periods with a 5-min. break at the half.

Law VIII

Start of Play Opponents must be five yards from the center mark. Goals may not be scored at the kick-off.

Method of Scoring Conform to FIFA. Except: goals scored from offensive half only.

Law XI

Offside There is no offside. Referee, however, may discourage "goal-hanging".

Free Kicks Conform to FIFA, except opponent shall remain 8 yards from ball.

Law XIV

Penalty Kicks There shall be no penalty kicks. Direct free kick from top of penalty area, parallel to foul. (9 yds)

Law XV

Throw-In Conform to FIFA Except: Following an illegal throw-in, the referee may explain the proper method and allow the player to try again. Referees have considerable discretion, keeping in mind the mind the flow of the game, and the instructional aspects of the game.

Law XVI

Goal Kick Conform to FIFA, except opponents must be 8 yards away from ball.

Law XVII

Corner Kick Conform to FIFA, except must be 8 yards away from ball

If at least 2 players from each team show up game will begin. Sharing players is encouraged when necessary. Players to be substituted should be at halfway line prior to the ball leaving the field.

Law X

Method of Scoring Goals scored from offensive half only. Not at the kick-off, kick-in, free kick No official scorekeeping will be recorded.

Throw-In Replaced by a kick-ins. Balls kicked out of bounds (100% over the line) are put into play by the opposing team at the point on the touchline where the ball was kicked out of bounds. If the player taking the kick touches the ball twice, they shall be awarded a second chance.

Law XVI

Goal Kick Goal kick is taken by defending team from any point on goal line. Opponents must be 3 yards away from ball.

Law XVII

Corner Kick If team defending goal touches ball last before it crosses goal line, attacking team puts it into play with an indirect kick. Opponents must be 3 yards away from ball.

Opposing parents/coaches and players should shake hands after each game.
